Why this site exists

Home gym equipment is a category where the marketing shouts and the useful details hide. Two racks look identical in photos, yet one is 11-gauge steel and the other 14-gauge. Two walking pads list the same top speed, and only one can actually hold it. The spec that decides whether you’re still using the thing in three years is almost never printed on the box.

So the job we set ourselves is narrow: gather the specifications, the live listings and what long-term owners report, apply the same criteria across a whole category, and publish the order. No lifestyle photography, no “top 10 for 2026” list that is really the top 10 highest commissions.

Who is behind it

TalkGyms is published by a Danish company that runs a portfolio of independent consumer guides. We have no ownership in, and no commercial relationship with, any fitness equipment brand.

Our research and drafting is done with AI, working from manufacturer specifications, live Amazon catalog data and verified owner reviews, then published under the TalkGyms name. What we cover

Fourteen categories in total, all of it equipment meant for a home, a garage or a spare room. Cardio covers treadmills and walking pads, exercise bikes, rowing machines, ellipticals and cardio accessories. Strength runs through dumbbells, barbells and plates, kettlebells, power racks, weight benches and all-in-one home gyms, with resistance training gear on the side. Round it out with recovery tools and a library of buying guides for the decisions that come before you ever open your wallet.

We do not cover apparel, supplements or gym memberships. We do not cover commercial gym equipment except where it is genuinely relevant to a home setup.
